AWS Application Migration Service Getting Started

This course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to seamlessly migrate servers to AWS, minimizing downtime and compatibility issues. Learners will understand the functionalities, benefits, and considerations of AWS Application Migration Service. Through hands-on demos, they will set up environments for migration, then initiate the migration process. By mastering Application Migration Service, learners can optimize infrastructure management and confidently navigate server migration challenges. Practical exercises ensure participants gain the necessary expertise to implement Application Migration Service effectively in real-world scenarios, enhancing their day-to-day operations and efficiency. 

• Setting up AWS MGN in the AWS Management Console, including creating replication settings, source server groups, and launch configurations for target EC2 instances.
• Installing and configuring the AWS Replication Agent on source servers (Windows/Linux) to enable continuous block-level replication to AWS.
• Performing test launches, cutover operations, and post-launch actions (e.g., instance sizing, networking adjustments, and application validation) with MGN's automated orchestration.
• Applying migration best practices (e.g., handling multi-server dependencies, monitoring replication health via CloudWatch, ensuring security with IAM roles/VPC, and minimizing cutover windows).

• Understand the end-to-end process for using AWS MGN to perform efficient, low-downtime application migrations (lift-and-shift) to AWS EC2 or other targets.
• Gain confidence in initial setup and execution of migrations, including replication monitoring, testing cutovers, and final failover with minimal manual intervention.
• Be prepared to evaluate MGN for migration projects, integrate it with other AWS services (e.g., AWS Migration Hub, AWS DMS for databases, or AWS Launch Wizard), and progress to advanced migration strategies or certifications.

• Approximately 1-hour digital course content with step-by-step guidance, console walkthroughs, diagrams, and practical examples for getting started with AWS Application Migration Service.
• Foundational-level training in the Migration and Transfer domain, suitable for migration specialists, cloud engineers, sysadmins, or architects new to AWS rehosting (no deep prerequisites; complements labs or advanced MGN courses).
• Coverage of core AWS MGN features and integrations (e.g., with AWS Migration Hub for tracking, AWS DMS for database migration, and EC2 for targets) aligned with AWS migration best practices.
• Certificate of completion issued.
