AWS Wickr Getting Started

This course provides an overview of AWS Wickr. You will learn about use cases and accreditations. You will also learn how to create a Wickr network from the AWS Management Console. This course is not intended to cover features in depth. It facilitates basic onboarding to Wickr for initial use. It also provides examples of why organizations choose to deploy Wickr. 

• Explaining AWS Wickr's key capabilities, such as end-to-end encryption, message expiration/ephemerality, screen sharing, voice/video calls, file sharing, and federation across networks.
• Creating a Wickr network via the AWS Management Console, including basic configuration for users, rooms, and security policies.
• Identifying suitable use cases and compliance alignments (e.g., FedRAMP, HIPAA-eligible, or DoD impact levels) where Wickr supports privacy and regulatory needs.
• Articulating differences and advantages of AWS Wickr compared to other messaging platforms (e.g., no metadata exposure, decentralized key management, and AWS-managed infrastructure).

• Understand AWS Wickr's architecture and value proposition for secure, ephemeral, and auditable communications without compromising end-to-end encryption or data sovereignty.
• Gain familiarity with the initial steps to deploy and manage a Wickr network, enabling quick evaluation or proof-of-concept for secure collaboration needs.
• Be prepared to identify when AWS Wickr fits organizational requirements (e.g., regulated industries, defense, or high-privacy teams) and progress to advanced Wickr administration or integration topics.

• 30-minute digital course content with clear explanations, service overviews, console walkthroughs for network creation, and use case examples (conceptual focus; introductory and non-technical).
• Foundational-level training in the Security, Identity, and Compliance domain, suitable for IT admins, security teams, compliance officers, or business leaders exploring secure collaboration tools (no prerequisites).
• Coverage of AWS Wickr fundamentals, aligned with AWS best practices for privacy-enhancing technologies and integration within the AWS ecosystem.
• Certificate of completion issued.
